Science and Superstition // Science and Superstition
Unscientific mind: Science works by reasoning, superstition stands against it. Today we cannot escape the influence of superstition. On the way, superstition also goes along. The ghost of superstition clings to the neck. We still haven't got the courage and education to take him down. Even today he scares us. Calling a lizard means bad luck, stopping to sneeze, putting a drop of curd on our forehead before going for an exam. What is the way to get rid of these?
Modernity and Scientific Consciousness: Since prehistoric times, man has been trying to penetrate the mysteries of nature and bring the unruly nature under control. The result of this effort is science and scientific consciousness. On the one side of human civilization, miraculous belief was born, on the other side, scientific consciousness. With science we try to understand the unexplained things in the world. But even today I have not been able to completely remove the superstition from my mind. Scientific consciousness has succumbed to people who believe in miracles. But rational people of good sense have begun to understand that there is no place for superstition outside of reason.
What is blind superstition? : Superstitions and superstitions stand against science consciousness. On the one hand, while the victory of science is going on, on the other hand, helpless women are still being burned as witches in England. In India, sati-immolations, sneeze-lizards, are going on. How many superstitions still exist in highly civilized societies.
Many people in civilized Europe still stop their cars when a black cat passes by. Even today, many well-educated people do not sit for thirteen people at the dining table. Albert Einstein, the best scientist of this century, said about the source of superstition - "It is this undefined source of fear and hope which is the genesis of irrational superstition".
Social superstitions, which are still prevalent: Although modern India is advancing in the path of scientific progress, our country is still mired in superstitions. Even today, cases like murder on suspicion of witchcraft, child sacrifice are happening frequently in India. However, the most surprising and shameful incident happened on September 21, 1995. Milking of Ganesha idol.
Superstitions of educated people: In our country, many people are full of superstitions despite knowing science. Amulets are often seen in the hands of scientists. Doctors rely on astrologers. Many educated people are holding Graharatna in their hands under the guidance of astrologers.
They eat 'Jalprada' with their eyes closed. Guru Charanamrit drank with devotion. Needless to say, these are the results of ignorance. All these are superstitions and superstitions in the mind of the so-called educated with degrees. True education is the education of the rational mind. Due to the lack of that education, these superstitions persist even today.
Direction of Path: Science and superstition are both products of human mind. A true rational man has to find the right and good way with his unreformed mind. Only then will the enlightened journey of the earth and mankind be assured. —Abolish O superstition. Or both will run side by side.
Emancipation from Superstitions: But the growing spread of science has struck at the immobility of people's superstitions and helpless religiosity. During the Middle Ages in Europe, the first people expressed doubts about religious explanations. A new set of values and beliefs developed. People understood that all the ancient theories, facts and doctrines are not acceptable blindly, everything will be accepted only after verifying with the hard stone of judgment and rationality. Through this skepticism, people's faith in sound science-reasoning grew.
